Vietnamese Education Ministry and Suntory PepsiCo Vietnam Strengthen Environmental Education Partnership
The Ministry of Education and Training (MoET) of Vietnam and Suntory PepsiCo Vietnam officially signed a strategic cooperation agreement on September 25 to continue their partnership focused on environmental education programs. This collaboration aims to enhance communication and education efforts supporting the holistic development of students across the nation, with a particular emphasis on promoting healthy lifestyles.
The agreement marks the start of a new phase of cooperation, building upon the successes achieved during the 2023–25 period. The ongoing collaboration will concentrate on broadening its reach and enhancing the impact of educational initiatives. These initiatives are designed to equip students with the necessary knowledge, skills, and attitudes to handle environmental issues, particularly concerning water conservation, protection, and access to clean water.
The program aspires to reach approximately 1.8 million primary school pupils by integrating educational content on water conservation and school sanitation into academic curricula and extracurricular activities. Furthermore, it will improve the capabilities of education administrators and teachers to implement water-saving and water-protection practices effectively.
Plans also include supporting about 50 water filtration systems and projects aimed at improving sanitation in disadvantaged areas, thereby enhancing access to clean water and sanitation for students. The initiative will continue promoting nature-based experiential learning and physical education activities, offering students the chance to apply the knowledge gained in practical settings.
Ashish Joshi, CEO of Suntory PepsiCo Vietnam, highlighted that the partnership reflects the company's ongoing commitment to fostering educational and communicative initiatives that promote a healthier and more environmentally aware generation. The program, covering over a decade, has benefited over one million pupils and supported more than 200 clean water projects in Vietnam.
The renewal of the collaboration coincides with significant milestones, such as the third year of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership for Peace and Prosperity between Vietnam and Japan, further underscoring the importance of this initiative in the region.
