Unilever is broadening the reach of its Liquid IV hydration brand into five additional European markets, including Spain and Germany. This expansion follows strong performance in the UK and Italy.

Unilever, the UK-based consumer goods giant, is extending the presence of its Liquid IV hydration brand across Europe. The brand, which has already established itself in the UK and Italy, will now be available in Spain, Germany, France, Sweden, and Iceland. This expansion marks a significant step in Liquid IV's international growth, bringing the total number of markets to 15 globally.

In Spain and Germany, consumers will be able to purchase Liquid IV products via Amazon, with Costco also serving the Spanish market. France, Sweden, and Iceland will receive their supplies through Costco. The brand, acquired by Unilever in 2020, specializes in electrolyte drink powder mixes designed to enhance hydration.

The move into new markets comes after what Unilever describes as 'strong momentum' in the UK. Gaurav Raisinghani, CEO of Unilever's Wellbeing Collective International business, expressed enthusiasm about the brand's European expansion, highlighting the potential to introduce Liquid IV's science-backed hydration solutions to a broader audience.

Unilever plans to introduce both Liquid IV Hydration Multiplier and Liquid IV Sugar-Free in these new regions. The company emphasized its commitment to scientific research, with 15 clinical studies completed and ongoing investments in hydration research, particularly concerning sugar-free formulations.

Liquid IV initially launched in the US in 2015 and has since expanded to 14 additional markets over the past three years. Unilever is also investing heavily in the brand's growth, pledging $80 million to increase production in the US by 2024. This expansion is part of Unilever's broader strategy to enhance its health and wellbeing portfolio, which includes acquiring the US nutritional supplements company Grüns and investing in related businesses through its Unilever Ventures arm.
