Tetra Pak and Axis Communications Introduce Ice Cream Production Monitoring

Tetra Pak, in collaboration with network technology company Axis Communications, has unveiled a new digital monitoring solution specifically designed for the ice cream manufacturing industry. Named 'Ice Cream Video Care,' this solution aims to provide real-time visibility throughout the production line, enhancing operational insight and control.

The development of this solution is the culmination of a six-year partnership between the two companies, focusing on process monitoring. It utilizes network cameras as intelligent sensors to offer deeper insights into the production process, addressing the growing consumer demand for improved food quality, consistency, and transparency in production.

The system is built around Axis' advanced IP camera technology, including Q-line dome and modular F-series cameras. These cameras are engineered to function effectively in low-temperature and harsh environments typical of ice cream production facilities, providing continuous, high-resolution monitoring of areas that are typically difficult to access or view.

Each ice cream production line can accommodate up to 16 cameras, managed through Axis' video management software, Axis Camera Station. This setup allows for safe and remote inspections without interrupting the manufacturing process. The implementation of this technology marks a significant expansion of camera-based process monitoring into the ice cream sector, following initial trials in juice filling operations.

Katrin Andersson, managing director for Tetra Pak North Europe, explained that the collaboration leverages Tetra Pak's expertise in food production and Axis Communications' advanced monitoring technologies. Andersson noted that the resulting system enhances efficiency, reduces waste, and improves quality control, ultimately supporting a more productive and sustainable food industry.
