Tenzing is intensifying its focus on energy drinks with functional benefits by expanding its Natural Energy+ line in the UK. The London-based company, led by founder Huib van Bockel, aims to compete in a market traditionally dominated by brands such as Red Bull and Monster.

Tenzing, a UK-based energy-drinks company, has introduced a sub-range called Natural Energy+ to tap into the growing consumer interest in drinks that offer functional benefits. The new line features products like the initial drink containing lion’s mane, and a subsequent launch, Natural Energy+ Focus, which includes a blend of magnesium, Sakura extract, and L-theanine sourced from a 'triple tea blend.'

The Natural Energy+ line has made significant inroads in the market, with the company's founder, Huib van Bockel, highlighting that they are outselling every edition of Red Bull in the largest UK retailer. This marks a notable achievement in a category dominated by giants such as Red Bull and Monster.

Founded by van Bockel ten years ago after his departure from Red Bull, Tenzing has positioned itself as a leading contender in the UK energy drinks market. It currently ranks as the third most valuable in terms of sales rate. While Tenzing trails behind brands supported by significant corporate backing like Coca-Cola's Relentless, it has been gaining traction, particularly in London where its growth in market share is prominent despite lower distribution levels compared to its competitors.

Van Bockel also highlighted the support received from Heineken since the brewing company acquired a minority stake, aiding in Tenzing’s expansion efforts. Though Tenzing has limited international operations, its primary focus remains on leveraging the UK market, which is valued at £3 billion.

In his discussion, van Bockel noted the increasing competition in the energy drinks sector, stating it has surpassed colas in terms of growth within the soft drinks category, underscoring the high demand and intense market dynamics.
