Swire Coca-Cola HK Expands Sales and Sustainability Initiatives Amid Events Boost
Swire Coca-Cola HK has experienced a boost in sales attributed to the resurgence of Hong Kong's mega event economy. The company's revenue reached HK$2.483 billion in 2025, marking a 2% increase from the previous year. This growth is supported by the company's strategic investments in safety, innovation, and sustainability.
The Sha Tin plant serves as a key manufacturing base, producing a range of over 80 products, including sparkling beverages, tea, water, and energy drinks. Notably, Swire Coca-Cola HK has been involved in significant local events such as the Hong Kong International Dragon Boat Festival, the Hong Kong Sevens, and the Hong Kong Tennis Open. As an official partner of the FIFA World Cup, the company is celebrating the 2026 tournament with special packaging featuring popular national teams.
Tourism recovery and the proliferation of large-scale events have contributed to increased demand. Visitor arrivals in Hong Kong reached 14.31 million in the first quarter of 2026, a 17% rise compared to the previous year. This influx has particularly benefited areas near the Kai Tak Sports Park, where Swire Coca-Cola HK's sales volume increased by 27% year-on-year from January to April 2026.
Innovation remains a priority, as the company addresses consumer preferences for low-sugar and functional beverages. Products like the Authentic Tea House unsweetened tea, which underwent extensive research and development, exemplify this focus. In 2025, low- or zero-calorie drinks comprised 59% of sales volume.
Safety and sustainability are also key areas of focus. Swire Coca-Cola HK's lost time injury rate decreased by 83% between 2018 and 2025, thanks to initiatives like the 'Zero IS Possible' vision. Furthermore, the Sha Tin plant achieved Zero Waste to Landfill validation at the silver level, diverting over 90% of waste from landfills.
The company is advancing circular economy practices through New Life Plastics, a joint venture that processes up to two million plastic bottles daily. However, current processing stands at 800,000 bottles due to low recovery rates, highlighting the need for enhanced community recycling efforts. Since 2020, Swire Coca-Cola HK has used 100% recycled PET for certain product bottles, and the company's community projects have recovered over 300 tons of plastic since 2022.
Looking ahead, Swire Coca-Cola HK plans to continue investing in local production capacity, supply chain resilience, and public education, supporting Hong Kong's development as a hub for sports, entertainment, and tourism events.
