Shandy Shack Revamps Brand Amidst Growing Fruit Beer Market
Shandy Shack has unveiled a comprehensive brand refresh after being acquired by SHS Drinks, aimed at bolstering its position in the burgeoning fruit beer category. This move comes as the brand seeks to accelerate growth and attract more consumers to its flavour-led, low-alcohol shandies. The revamped cans are now available through direct-to-consumer channels and Sainsbury’s stores across the UK.
Founded in 2018 by three friends, Shandy Shack has cultivated a loyal customer base with its unique blend of craft beer and natural fruit flavours. The company’s strategic review, initiated after joining the SHS Drinks portfolio in 2024, led to the brand’s refreshed identity. This includes a successful co-branded collaboration with M&S, which has seen one can of the Shandy Shack x M&S shandy sold every minute since its launch.
The rebranding effort highlights the evolution of both the beer and moderation markets since Shandy Shack’s inception. With fruit beer now a well-established category, the rebrand focuses on clarifying Shandy Shack’s offerings while retaining brand equity. The updated packaging architecture prominently features fruit flavours and identifies each product as a shandy, all aligned to a 2.5% ABV.
The new product lineup includes Lemon Shandy with IPA, Elderflower Shandy with Lager, Raspberry Shandy with Lager, and Ginger Beer Shandy with Pale Ale. These names reflect the corresponding flavour profiles, with recipes remaining unchanged to preserve the taste appreciated by existing fans. The packaging also features a new hand-painted texture, linking to the brand’s craft heritage while appealing to modern market aesthetics.
Developed in collaboration with branding agency Continuous, the updated identity aims to help Shandy Shack compete effectively in the fruit beer market while maintaining the craft cues integral to its brand since 2018. The refreshed product range is being launched in phases across grocery, direct-to-consumer, and foodservice channels, supported by influencer campaigns and consumer events like Lakefest.
Tom Stevens, Founder of Shandy Shack, stated, “The shandy category has evolved significantly since Shandy Shack launched in 2018. This refresh ensures we are clearer about what we stand for and the occasions we are made for, while staying true to the quality, flavour, and craft DNA that has built our loyal following.”
Leading the updated lineup is the Elderflower Shandy with Lager, featuring a pilsner base and elderflower cordial, available in larger 440ml cans at Sainsbury’s with a recommended retail price starting from £2.50. Other offerings include the Lemon Shandy with IPA and the Raspberry Shandy with Lager, both made in collaboration with Bottle Green®, with pricing details provided on Shandy Shack’s official website.
