Reyes Coca-Cola Bottling to Open $650 Million Facility in California
Reyes Coca-Cola Bottling is investing $650 million in a new bottling and distribution center located in Rancho Cucamonga, California. The facility is expected to be completed by the end of 2027, aligning with the company's sponsorship of the 2028 Olympics. This center will replace the company's old distribution facility from 1984, situated on a 30-acre site at 6th Street and Haven Avenue.
The new plant will be the first Coca-Cola production facility constructed in California in almost six decades. It aims to serve customers across Southern California and Nevada and will employ between 500 and 600 workers within its first three years of operation. The 620,000-square-foot facility will feature four production lines capable of producing 30 million cases of beverages annually.
Rancho Cucamonga Mayor L. Dennis Michael expressed enthusiasm about the development, noting its significance as one of the largest manufacturing plants to open in the city in decades. He stated, "This strengthens our role as a hub for innovation and manufacturing."
The construction of this facility comes after the closure of several regional Coca-Cola manufacturing and distribution centers by Reyes in recent years, including the upcoming closure of its Ventura location. According to a filing with the state's Employment Development Department, the Ventura plant will officially close on July 10, affecting 85 employees, some of whom have been reassigned.
Reyes Coca-Cola Bottling operates under Reyes Holding LLC, which manages 22 beer and drink distributors across California. The company operates other facilities throughout Southern California, including in Victorville, City of Industry, Irvine, Orange, Oceanside, and San Diego.
The new plant's opening marks a significant development for Rancho Cucamonga, following the closure of the Frito-Lay distribution plant earlier in the year. The Frito-Lay facility was permanently closed on June 6, resulting in the loss of 248 jobs.
