PepsiCo, Kirin, and Coca-Cola Expand Their Presence in Asia and the Middle East
PepsiCo is targeting Iraq as a significant manufacturing hub in the Middle East, focusing on the country's agricultural potential and capacity for food exports. According to the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organisation, Iraq offers advantages such as a young population and plentiful local food ingredients like staple crops, fruits, and animal protein. Ahmed Elsheikh, the CEO of Foods, Middle East, North Africa, and Pakistan at PepsiCo, affirmed the company's commitment to supporting Iraq's industrial capabilities.
In Asia, Kirin's strategy to incorporate its postbiotic ingredient into a commercial beverage has proven successful. The company's iMUSE brand is set for a refresh in Vietnam, alongside its entry into new Asian markets by 2026. Kirin is implementing a multi-category strategy aimed at raising consumer awareness about these ingredients and expanding its functional beverage market share. Toru Yoshimura, President of the Health Science Business Division at Kirin, highlighted these initiatives during the firm's recent Investors' Day.
Coca-Cola is also intensifying its efforts in China, employing localized product innovations and digital engagement methods to connect with consumers. The global beverage company aims to deepen its market penetration through culturally relevant experiences and community initiatives. This approach is part of Coca-Cola's broader strategy to leverage consumer insights and expand its beverage offerings in one of its key international markets.
