Nestlé Innovates by Merging Confectionery and Coffee Products
Nestlé is merging its confectionery and coffee sectors with the launch of Nescafé drinks inspired by KitKat and Lion brands. These new products, the Nescafé KitKat White Flavour Latte and Nescafé Lion Flavour Mocha, aim to combine the appeal of confectionery with the functionality of coffee.
This initiative is part of Nestlé’s strategy to enhance growth through cross-category innovation, leveraging brand recognition across different sectors. The company has invested £28m in its Dalston UK factory to improve manufacturing efficiency and output. This investment has facilitated the creation of these new products, according to Ingrid Hayes, marketing director for Nescafé UK and Ireland.
Hayes stated that their confectionery-inspired launches have been among their most successful product developments, bringing many new consumers into the coffee category. The investment has also enabled significant advancements in manufacturing processes, as highlighted by Ian Pipes, the Dalston factory manager, who noted improved efficiency and increased output.
These developments come as manufacturers are increasingly looking to drive value growth through premium, flavor-led innovations. Nestlé's approach reflects the growing trend of blending the lines between snacking and drinking, appealing to consumers seeking products that offer both a treat and functionality.
The launch is a significant step in Nestlé's broader strategy to use its scale and brand portfolio to explore new opportunities in the crowded coffee and confectionery landscapes. The company's continued focus on innovation and investment underscores its commitment to maintaining a competitive edge.
