Monster Beverage Completes 2-for-1 Stock Split as Revenue Grows
Monster Beverage finalized its 2-for-1 stock split on August 11, which contributed to a 5% increase in its stock price since the announcement made on July 8. This is not the first such initiative by the company, which previously executed similar actions, including an 8-for-1 split in 2020 and a 3-for-1 split in 2016.
Despite the initial surge in stock price, conservative investors may find Monster's current forward price-to-earnings (P/E) ratio of 41.6 relatively high, especially when compared to its competitor, Celsius Holdings, which has a forward P/E of 22.6. Moreover, Monster does not offer dividends, focusing investor returns solely on stock price appreciation.
Nonetheless, Monster has reported significant sales growth from its core energy drink segment, which rose by 21.6% to $2.36 billion in the second quarter of 2026. This segment accounted for the majority of the company's $2.54 billion total revenue during the quarter. Furthermore, Monster's net sales from international markets increased by 34.6% to $1.1 billion, making up 46% of total sales for the quarter.
Although the company's alcohol segment sales saw a reduction of 15.2% to $32.2 million, the global alcoholic energy drink market is projected to expand substantially, potentially growing from $31.8 billion in 2025 to $67.9 billion by 2035, according to InsightAce Analytic. This projection provides an opportunity for Monster to experiment and possibly expand this division should consumer demand grow.
With its strong brand presence and expanding international reach, Monster is positioned to pursue further revenue growth while addressing competitive pressures and market expectations.
