MOMO Kombucha Expands Production with New South London Brewery
MOMO Kombucha, a South London-based company, has announced its relocation to a new brewery site in Herne Hill. This move marks a significant expansion for the brand, which was previously operating out of New Covent Garden Market for seven years. The company aims to boost its production capacity from 60,000 to 300,000 bottles per week with the help of custom fermentation vessels.
Founded in 2018 by Josh and Lisa Puddle, MOMO Kombucha began as a small operation in their kitchen, located minutes away from the new site. The decision to move to the former Brixton Brewery location not only brings the company back to its roots but also offers a larger space to innovate and expand.
Josh Puddle, co-founder of MOMO, expressed that the move aligns with their goal to produce the UK's best-tasting kombucha. "It feels fitting to be giving this former beer brewery a healthy facelift," he stated. The new 16,000 square foot facility will provide additional space for brewing, a dedicated lab, and a kitchen.
In preparation for the transition, the company has increased its production output by 70% to ensure a steady supply of kombucha during the move, utilizing 1,400 kilograms of tea leaves, 10.5 tonnes of sugar, and 200,000 liters of kombucha.
MOMO Kombucha's product range, priced at £4.50 per 330ml bottle, includes flavors such as Ginger-Lemon and Turmeric. The move is expected to be completed by the end of the week, and the company has been keeping customers updated through their social media platforms.
