Matchi Global introduces canned protein matcha lattes with 20 grams of protein
Matchi Global, a US-based beverage company, has made its entry into the growing market for both matcha and protein-enriched beverages with the launch of its new product line, Matchi. These shelve-stable canned protein matcha lattes combine ceremonial-grade matcha with 20 grams of complete milk protein, enriched with all nine essential amino acids.
The 248ml cans of Matchi lattes also include 4 grams of prebiotic fiber and approximately 120mg of caffeine. The company highlights that their drinks do not contain any artificial flavors, colors, sweeteners, or preservatives, marking a commitment to natural ingredients.
Jordan Martinez, founder of Matchi Global, emphasized that the company's focus is on being a matcha company offering a protein-enriched beverage, distancing itself from being primarily a protein drink company. The drink's formulation aims to provide a latte-style experience, with an emphasis on the balance between matcha flavor and protein.
The market for such beverages appears promising, as Matchi Global quoted market statistics that project the US high-protein shakes category to reach $8.1 billion by 2025. Meanwhile, the US matcha market is expected to expand from $478.8 million in 2024 to $762.6 million by 2030.
During development, Matchi's formulation went through 11 rounds of adjustments to fine-tune the matcha and protein flavor balance. Customers can purchase the products in packs of 12 or 24 cans, and subscription options are available which offer pricing at less than $4 per can, according to the company.
