Keurig Dr Pepper (KDP) has announced the global rollout of its new liquid espresso concentrate. The product will be available across 20 countries under the brands L’OR, Jacobs, Kenco, and Douwe Egberts. The company is aiming to tap into the rising popularity of cold coffee, which has been identified as one of the fastest-growing trends in the coffee sector.

The espresso concentrate will be available in three flavors: Pure Black, Sweet Caramel, and Rich Mocha. KDP emphasizes the product's ability to be stored in a refrigerator and remain fresh for up to four weeks after opening. This initiative targets the preferences of younger consumers whose coffee habits are influenced by trends in social media and coffee shops.

Ricard Barri Valentines, head of marketing at KDP’s coffee unit, stated that the company is directly targeting Gen Z coffee enthusiasts. The concentrate is a testament to KDP's strategic platforming within its global coffee business, leveraging a single creative approach to drive innovation across its portfolio.

In comparison, competitor Nestlé has also ventured into cold coffee products through collaborations with Starbucks. Earlier this year, they introduced a cold-coffee concentrate in conjunction with Starbucks, with distribution starting in the UK, Japan, and South Korea. Nestlé has reaped success with similar products across various markets including the USA, Japan, China, and Australia.

Carolyn Adams, KDP’s chief R&D officer for coffee, remarked the company's adeptness in liquid coffee formulations in professional environments is now being applied to consumer markets. This move signifies an attempt to expand the market by attracting new consumers while catering to existing coffee drinkers.
