IKEA Promotes Sustainability with Surplus British Apple Juice in Milton Keynes

IKEA is taking steps to address food waste by offering shoppers in Milton Keynes a chance to sample apple juice made from surplus British apples. The apple juice, branded as 'Great British Bin Juice,' is available for free at the IKEA store on Bletcham Way this weekend. This initiative is part of IKEA's effort to highlight the value of food that might otherwise be discarded.

In addition to distributing the juice, IKEA is hosting 'Waste Not Want Not' workshops on Saturday, June 6. These workshops will educate attendees on food storage, meal preparation, and how to creatively use leftovers to create new meals. The workshops aim to equip individuals with practical skills to reduce food waste in their homes.

The bottles of 'Great British Bin Juice' feature QR codes that offer customers a 20% discount on the IKEA 365+ food storage range. This range includes containers and lids designed to preserve leftovers and keep food fresh. The initiative encourages consumers to keep track of their food supplies and reduce waste through improved storage solutions.

Karen Hughes, the country food manager at IKEA UK, stated, "At IKEA, we believe good food should always be valued and enjoyed. 'Great British Bin Juice' is a fun and simple way to show how ingredients, often overlooked, can be turned into something delicious." She emphasized that the project is about sharing practical solutions that help individuals make the most of the food they already have.

The 'Great British Bin Juice' will be available at the Milton Keynes store starting June 6. This initiative is part of IKEA's broader effort to promote sustainability and encourage consumers to rethink the value of overlooked food items.
