Hotel Chocolat Enters Premium Iced Beverage Market with Coconut Macaroon
Hotel Chocolat has introduced its first limited-edition iced drinking chocolate, Coconut Macaroon, marking its entry into the premium iced beverage segment. This product development is part of a broader strategy to meet increasing consumer demand for indulgent drinks that serve as alternatives to traditional caffeine-heavy beverages. The Coconut Macaroon is available now and is inspired by the brand's successful Coconut White drinking chocolate.
The decision to launch this product aligns with the rising popularity of coconut flavors in the food and beverage industry. It also reflects the trend of blending café culture with unique, indulgent flavors. Hotel Chocolat conducted a consumer survey in May 2026, revealing that 48% of its customers would prefer a premium iced drinking chocolate over a standard iced coffee during summer months.
Yiotis Panagiotou, a speciality cocoa chocolatier at Hotel Chocolat, emphasized the brand's intention to merge the 'patisserie' trend with high-quality ingredients such as coconut milk. This approach aims to offer consumers a bakery-inspired taste experience in a chilled beverage format. Panagiotou stated, "By combining the 'patisserie' trend with high-performance ingredients like coconut milk, we've created a product that responds to consumers' desire for innovation."
The Coconut Macaroon is priced at £14.95 for a box containing 10 sachets. It is available for purchase through Hotel Chocolat stores, their online platform, and in Hotel Chocolat cafés. The product launch is indicative of the ongoing shifts in the beverage sector towards premiumisation and experiential consumption.
Hotel Chocolat, established in 2004, operates across the entire chocolate value chain. The company is involved in cacao cultivation in Saint Lucia and manufacturing in the UK, with a strong emphasis on ethical sourcing and developing premium products.
