Disneyland Implements Price Hikes on Food and Beverages
Disneyland has raised the prices of more than 800 food and beverage items at its Anaheim theme park. The average price increase is 8%, with individual price hikes ranging from 1.5% to 23%. This adjustment affects various dining locations across the theme parks and resort hotels.
According to Mickey Visit, snacks such as churros, popcorn, funnel cakes, and soft serve ice cream have seen price increases ranging from 7% to 15%. Bakery and dessert items have increased by an average of 9%. Beverage prices have also risen, with bottled drinks going up by approximately 25 cents, and coffee, tea, and other hot beverages increasing by about 75 cents. Cocktail prices have seen a rise of about $1 to $2 per drink.
Specific examples of price changes include the Wedge Salad at Boardwalk Pizza & Pasta, which now costs $2.80 more, marking a 23% increase. Despite these changes, not all food and beverage items have been affected. The Bluey kids meal at Troubadour Tavern, for instance, remains priced at $6, and no kids meals have undergone price changes.
Disneyland officials have stated that the updated prices align with the industry and are lower than those of competitors on many items. The theme park regularly evaluates and adjusts its restaurant offerings and prices.
The price increases largely coincide with the busy summer season, a time when Disneyland typically implements such adjustments. Last year's price hike also occurred during July. The rise in food and beverage prices at Disneyland is part of a broader trend seen across the restaurant industry.
The National Restaurant Association reports that restaurant menu prices have increased by 3.5% over the past year and by 35% since 2020, attributing these hikes to inflation-driven costs, with food prices up 35% and labor costs up 39% compared to pre-pandemic levels.
