Del Monte and Treatt Launch Upcycled Fruit Extracts for Beverages
Del Monte Corporation, in collaboration with Treatt, has launched a new line of fruit-derived extracts aimed at beverage manufacturers. The initiative uses upcycled fruit ingredients, aligning with current consumer trends favoring transparency and sustainability.
The newly developed portfolio includes pineapple, watermelon, mango, and cantaloupe extracts. These ingredients are specifically designed for beverage applications, leveraging Del Monte's premium fruit supply and Treatt's natural extraction technology. This combination ensures authentic fruit flavor and consistent performance across various drink products.
The extracts are produced from premium fruit materials that are generated during Del Monte's fresh-cut fruit processing operations. These materials would not typically be used in finished products. By converting these ingredients into high-value extracts, the partnership aims to enhance resource efficiency and add value to the fruit supply chain.
Deema Anani, the chief commercial officer of Del Monte's specialty ingredients division, emphasized the company's commitment to maximizing the value of every fruit sourced. She stated, "This collaboration reflects how innovation and responsible sourcing can work hand in hand, creating high-quality fruit-derived ingredients that help our customers meet evolving consumer preferences."
Treatt applied its proprietary extraction expertise to develop the range, which supports beverage manufacturers in formulating products with authentic fruit character. Emma Bowles, group director of category and marketing at Treatt, noted, "This launch is about more than a new ingredient range. Consumers increasingly expect beverages to deliver authentic taste, recognizable ingredients, and stronger sustainability credentials."
This collaboration marks a strategic shift for Del Monte Corporation, following its rebranding from Fresh Del Monte Produce Inc. in June 2026. The company is expanding into value-added ingredients, emphasizing innovation and global brand growth beyond its traditional fresh produce business.
