Customers Criticize McDonald's New Caramel Apple Pie Iced Coffee
McDonald's recently launched a new range of Caramel Apple Pie flavored beverages as part of their seasonal offerings at McCafé. This lineup includes options such as iced coffee, hot and iced lattes, and a frappé, each featuring caramel apple pie syrup mixed with McDonald's coffee. The drinks are topped with a salted caramel-flavored whipped topping and a sprinkle of apple pie crumble.
However, not all of the new drinks have been well-received by customers. The Caramel Apple Pie Iced Coffee, in particular, has drawn criticism in online communities like Reddit. Several users described the drink's taste unfavorably, likening it to consuming a candle due to what they perceived as artificial flavors.
A post titled "Mcdonalds [sic] apple pie iced coffee was awful" prompted numerous comments agreeing with the sentiment. One user stated, "Tastes like drinking a candle and mouthfeel is really bad," highlighting displeasure with both taste and texture, though the specifics of the latter were not detailed. Another mentioned, "After a few sips I had to dump it out, absolutely disgusting. Wish I would have just got my Reg Iced Vanilla coffee. Now I'm sick to my stomach," expressing regret over their beverage choice.
Despite the negative feedback, some consumers have expressed enjoyment of the Frappé option in the range. McDonald's fans interested in caramel flavors may opt for its permanent McCafé menu items, including a Caramel Macchiato, Latte, Cappuccino, and Frappé.
This situation reflects the challenges fast-food chains face when venturing into seasonal flavor offerings, aiming to cater to a variety of tastes while maintaining quality. Despite the criticism, McDonald's continues to provide other fall-themed options that might better meet customer expectations for autumnal flavors.
