Coca-Cola's Q2 Performance Supported by Resilient Demand and Volume Trends
The Coca-Cola Company is anticipated to reveal a robust performance for the second quarter, with analysts from Jefferies and Bank of America citing resilient demand and steady volume trends as key factors. Jefferies forecasts organic sales growth of 3.9%, surpassing the street estimate of 3.5%, and adjusted earnings per share of $0.94, slightly above the consensus of $0.93.
Jefferies expects Coca-Cola to maintain its full-year guidance, projecting 4% to 5% organic sales growth and 8% to 9% earnings per share growth. The analysts noted the company's strong visibility into its sales and cost outlook for the rest of the year. However, potential impacts on sales and margins due to the ongoing Middle East conflict remain a point of interest, particularly concerning the Europe, Middle East, and Africa segment.
The firm adjusted its second quarter organic sales growth estimate from 5.1% to 1.6%, reflecting changes in concentrate sales timing, and anticipates unit case volumes to lag slightly. For the full year, Jefferies maintained its forecast of 5% organic sales growth and earnings per share of $3.28, marking a 9.2% year-over-year increase.
Bank of America also holds a positive stance, projecting a 2.0% year-over-year growth in unit case volume. The analysts emphasize Coca-Cola's benefits from resilient demand and limited inflation exposure due to its asset-light business model. The firm reiterated its 'Buy' rating and increased its price objective to $95, driven by a higher valuation multiple.
Regionally, Bank of America showed improved expectations for Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, and Asia Pacific, while trimming forecasts for Latin America due to softer trends in Mexico. The firm now expects EMEA unit case volume growth of 2.3% and Asia Pacific growth of 2.9%, compared to previous estimates.
Coca-Cola is set to report its second quarter earnings on July 28 before the market opens.
