Capri-Sun Recalls Certain Orange Drink Batches Due to Labeling Errors
The Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI) has initiated a recall of specific batches of Capri-Sun Orange drinks following the discovery of a packaging error. The affected products include multipacks where some pouches are incorrectly labeled as 'Capri-Sun Orange Zero' instead of the regular Capri-Sun Orange, which contains the standard sugar level.
This mislabeling could potentially mislead consumers who are required to monitor their sugar intake, particularly impacting individuals with conditions such as diabetes. Ireland has over 225,000 people living with diabetes, making this recall particularly significant for those consumers.
The recall concerns the 10 x 200 ml multipacks of Capri-Sun Orange drinks, specifically those with batch codes L104, L105, and L106, and a best before date of April 2027. These products originate from the UK.
The FSAI has stated that recall notices will be prominently displayed at points of sale to inform consumers of the potential risk involved with these products. The recall aims to prevent any adverse health effects due to the consumption of mislabeled drinks.
In a statement, the FSAI emphasized the importance of correctly labeled food products, particularly for consumers with specific dietary needs. The agency continues to monitor the situation and ensure that all necessary safety measures are in place.
The recall has been issued as a precautionary measure to ensure consumer safety and maintain trust in food labeling standards.
