Arkay Zero Proof to Establish Facility in France for European Market Entry
Arkay Zero Proof has announced its intention to establish a production, bottling, and labeling facility in Avignon, France. This strategic move is part of the company's plan to expand into the European Economic Community (EEC) by September 2026, pending final approvals related to operations, distribution, and regulations.
The new facility is projected to generate approximately 50 new jobs in the region and aims to produce around 1 million cases annually for the European market when fully operational. Founded in 2011, Arkay Zero Proof is recognized in the alcohol-free spirits alternative category, notably for launching a non-alcoholic whisky alternative.
The Avignon site will enhance regional logistics, support retail and hospitality partners, and ensure compliance with European labeling and regulatory standards. The company stated that they will avoid using regulated terms associated with alcoholic spirits such as whisky, vodka, rum, and gin on their European labels, opting instead for terms like 'zero proof' and 'spirit alternative' in accordance with local laws.
Reynald Vito Grattagliano, the founder of Arkay Zero Proof, emphasized the personal significance of this project, as he was born in Avignon. He stated, “Opening this plant in Avignon is very personal for me. I was born here, and bringing Arkay to Avignon feels a little bit like giving back to the city where I am from. This project is about creating jobs, building a European future for Arkay, and honoring the city that is part of my own history.”
The facility will cater to a diverse range of distribution channels including supermarkets, beverage distributors, hotels, restaurants, bars, cafés, and online retailers. The choice of France is attributed to its strategic location, rich beverage heritage, and access to extensive European transport networks, positioning the Avignon site as a hub for production and logistics in the region.
